Today i took part in the Anti-Gm potato trials walk. I got up early at 8 to get ready cause i thought i'd have to catch the bus at 10 but then my mum told me she'd give me a lift as she was going so Amaus(sp?). So i had plenty of time to kill so started watching Who's That Girl? which i recieved from LoveFilm today, I was hoping it'd be another desperately seeking susan but sadly it was not. Madonna is irritating throughout im not sure if she was trying to mimick monroe or a cartoon character, whoever it doesn't work well.
Anyway my mum dropped me off at Histon Baptist Church at 11. Me and Peter stood about chatting whilst everyone else was writing on placards (we coulnd't think of a clever slogan but the best was definently *No to Gm its stupid and all mud.* that a kid had written!). Being anti social we stood about a metre away from everyone else and the only other person we talked to was a woman who was trying to find local people.
The police turned up, at first just a parole car with two policeman in who were taking pictures of us protesters. Then a massive police van came! We thought that was taking the piss enough but then another police car pulled up, and ten minutes later 2 more! I don't know waht exactly they were expecting to happen.
There were 2 cameramen there and they were interviewing and filming the group of people who were on the grass (which didn't inc. me and pete) but then they made us all stand together and chant stuff like *Potatos not Mutatos* and something about say no to frankenspuds so they had some shots for the news!
Then we started our walk, with me and pete accidently leading which was filmed so if you see us and we look like mediawhores sorry!
The police accompanied us on the walk aswell. Filming and photography the whole way! We stopped midway between Histon and Girton in the middle of the NIAB fields and several people got up and told us about the trials inc. a guy who works at Arjuna and a women who knew LOADS of stuff about the whole gm issue, it was so amazing listening to her as she was so knowledgable about it all. Then some guy on the walk said something like *what you might not know about the NIAB site is that some of it has got planning permission for houses in a few years and half of the site is infected already with anthrax* and everyone kind of looked at him questionably and went *Anthrax?!* and he was like *yes, anthrax* but nobody questioned him on the point so im not sure if the fields of cambridgeshire are anthrax infested or not!
We continued our walk to Girton and finished at the Womens Institute where we got yummy potatoe &leek soup plus massive hulks of bread and crisps! it was all free aswell from Arjuna. A lady sat at the table with me and pete as we were loners still. She was born in Egypt and had lived in Portland, Oregan before moving to Cambridge 30 years ago. I told her i'd always wanted to go to Portland and asked if she knew about the Riot Grrl movement which she hadnt so explained it was a feminist movement that happened in the early 90's and she said yes they're very into that over there!
Lucia came to meet us, and we wondered back to Histon where Pete stuck up some cool posters for his art project. We had talked about having a band practice but we just pissed about on Petes organ for awhile then i nicked a load of his dvds! and brought a book off him!
My mum picked me and Lucia up about 5ish and we popped into tesco on the way home to grab some veggies for our pizzas which were yum!
Tomorrow i plan to watch a heap of the films pete lent me and do something with the K recs felt patch thing i made!

Crappy pic of Cupcakes - ignore manky tray!

SO on thursday i headed up to sheffield and when i got to doncaster i kept missing every train to sheff cause they kept changing platforms last min and im a lame-o! anyway eventually i got there and hannah and sam met me and i went back to hannahs to dump my bags and see her house properly! But she had to go babysit old people so i went to sams halls in the town centre so he could feed me. I met his flatmates donna and rachel and faye who was visiting donna and they were all really nice then we went to this cheap pub round the corner and me and sam had some somosas cause he didnt cook enough pasta! We had some fun there then went back to donnas room to watch i'm a celebratty and stupid scott freak out and chuck up on the task before he'd even seen the crocs - idiot! And his stupid imaginary snakes and eeels! Seriously the ammount of hate he created in the room was immense! Was gutted poor toby ansted got voted out but i thought they shoulda got otis the ardvark to meet him as he left!
Anyway the next day me and hannah went xmas shopping in sheffield and i found aload of bargain clothes in primark/tj hughes which she brought me for xmas! And she took me and sam for a meal at blue moon.
Me and Hannah went home and i had more pasta and when we were getting ready to go out hannah said i could wear some of my xmas clotehs if i wanted so i was gonna wear my waistcoat until i realised they'd left the bloody security tag on (well it was a £1 but still...)! Eventually we went down to sams and to the cheap pub again and Faya brought us a pitcher of cheeky vimto which was v, nice as her and we talked about im a celeb. Then we left for The Leadmill but it was chucking it down so we hopped in a taxi but sam couldnt fit in so he had to walk! The leadmill was soo much better than any club in cambridge ever! Better music too and we were dancing away and i met a nice indie boy called stuart...blablabla.
On sat i woke up with a hangover and got the train to see em in leeds! She showed me round all the cool shops and i got some jason donovan badges for donna/rachel cause they heart him and a madonna one for myself! Then we went to this german market and i had the yummiest fried potatoes EVER i'm craving them as i type this! Emily had a schnitzel and we both had gluvijn or however you spell it! Then we watched Red Dragon before taking ages to get ready to go out! But obv. we bothed looked super cool and emily did my hair in a weird exotic bird style i can't quite express in words! We went to the faversham we'd missed all the bands and they had no vimto but we drank snakebite and jagermeister shot and danced the night away till half 3!
On sun i headed back to sheffield and the train was sooo stupidly full ahh nightmare. I coulda swapped to another train at doncaser but i wasnt taking any chances after my experiences there on the way up!
Hannah met me at the station and i met Stuart at half 2 and he showed me round the vitnage shops in sheff and it was fun and cute .Then he helped me take my bag to the station and the stupid doncaster train was a bus instead and it took me like 3 1/2 hours to get home!:(
Anyway now im back in shitty cambridge and its shit but im applying to sheffield hallam to do film studies next year so i gotta get that all sorted out! I'm going back up the sheff on the 15th!
Tomorrow and wed im working at my mums office and on friday im going to edwinns with nikki and maybe sarah and anna.

Are you
1.
I just went to Bar Hill Library because I was bored and also because I needed to post Broken Flowers back to Lovefilm. Apparently Little shits like to hang around the library computers once school it out and the librarian has to constantly tell them there is too many round one computer. I looked at the DVD and Videos to rent but rental cost for both is £2.20 which i think is a rip off. I got out one book called : The Guinness Who's Who Of INDIE AND NEW WAVE MUSIC. It's totally old. This is the entry for HOLE:
"This exciting US hardcore guitar band fronted by the effervescent Courtney Love (vocals, guitar). An ex-actress, who has small roles in Alex Cox's Sid and Nancy and Straight To Hell, she was born to hippie parents and even attended the Woodstock Festival as a child. She spent the rest of her childhood years at boarding schools in England and New Zealand, where her parents had brought a sheep farm, before travelling around the world in her teens. Returning to Los Angeles, she appeared for a while as vocalist with Faith No More in an incarnation which only reached rehearsal stage. There she formed Hole with Caroline(Drums), Jill (Bass) and Eric (Guitar), following the suggestion of Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon. The Band quickly produced a trio of fine singles; 'Retard Girl', 'Dicknail', and 'Teenage Whore', which were pointed and unsettling dirges, set in a grimly sexual lyrical environment. Equally impressive was the debut album, produced by Don Fleming (Gumball), followed by massive exposure supporting Mudhoney throughout Europe. It was on this jaunt that Courtney achieved further notoriety by being the first woman musician to 'trash' her guitar on stage in the Uk. Album: Pretty On The Inside(1991)."
It's so nice to read a "review" of them that doesn't describe courtney as Kurt Cobain's Widow.

Ida will be happy to hear there is a nice long description of Crass which is Too long for me to type out! And PEte will be happier to here theres an even longer bit on The Fall!

After the Library I decided to have a mini walk around Bar Hill which really was short. I just walked up the spinepave towards hillcrest past my old childminders house, which looked really weird becuase it has been extended, then i decided to turn down a path i havent been down in possibly 8 years which lead me out onto a culdesac and some arsehole houseowners had decided to totally out middleclass themselves. I am so taking Ida here on Sat to LOl at it with me!

If ever there was a reason to hate dairy, a frozen milk carton just fell on my foot twice!
and if ever there was a reason to hate Asda, we went in tehre the other and apart from the fact its scaff in general there was only one bag of potatoes left and when we opened them all were rotten but 2!
I just finished watching Garden State and I loved it but these two things annoyed me:
1)Before the bathroom scene with sam/andrew i thought *excellent there so won't be a scene were they're kissing then it cuts to them in bed post-sex becuase this isn't that type of movie* then there was that scene.
2)the ending was just blah it happened real quick and i don't know it happened too fast for my liking!
Also i noticed when he's running to the plane he runs past the same place him and sam had walked by when they came into the airport! And when hes on the plane and its fades to his wasterfriend on his couch with his bong thats scene is also used earlier on in the movie when andrew leaves his house after the partynight!
Yeah but its great everyone should see it and Natalie Portmans uber cute!

I've been working in my mums office this week and even though i'm only photocopying/stapling/putting folders together/filing/enveloping stuff i'm actually quite enjoying it. Maybe I like doing repititive monotonous jobs!
I went into St.Catherines on Sunday to be trained as a Waitress. It was actually quite easy but i'm freaking out about actually serving real people real food cause we were trained using water for soup and fruit for hot dinners! I was being trained with this 2 girls though one from Kazystan which i can't spell for shit and one from Turkey. The one from Kazystan was my age and it was her first job. I had to go help her buy a white shirt, black skirt and black shoes afterwards and she goes to me *my first job, my first friend from my job, my first blouse, skirt, shoes - i'll be forever thanking you!* Anyway I'm meant to be starting friday but i'm going to ring up and say i can't because I don't want to work friday but im gonna work sat and sunday!
Filmfest friday with Ida and Peter!
Oh I'm loving Autumnwatch and otterman seems to have turned into deerman!

Tuesday Morning Sam (my sisters boyfriend) past his driving test and took me and Hannah out to Wimpole Hall for a stroll. We walked up to the folly (a fake crumbling castle rich people built on their estates to give them some history) and same said it was "disgusting" when Hannah told him it was fake. When I got in Ida rang and asked me to go to the Adequate 7 gig, she said a riot grrrl influenced band were supporting so I agreed. After the gig we went dumpster diving and Ida got a cute umbrella which I envy and I got a notepad - Oh! and a danish phrasebook which i took great delight in reading out to Ida the next day! We missed the last bus and walked back to hers which nearly killed me because I am lame. We made cake then didn't fancy eating it - I drank a bottle of shloer. Ida tortured me with Singles and we played MASH alot. The next morning we did nothing but eat cake and watch my neighbor totoro. Eventually we got ready and went back into town because i had my stupid creative writing course and ida was going to see Gema play. I almost didn't go to my course but Hannah made me and i hate writing with a bunch of other people and i hate reading out my stuff infront of people more so i pretended i couldn't write everything and sat there hating everyone else in the group. Today I stayed in, watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and helped Hannah pack. We are driving up to my Aunties house in Derbyshire tomorrow and on saturday helping Hannah move into her house in Sheffield. I want to do some shopping.

Couple
<img src="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i31/dottiedamage/Picture001.jpg"
Yesterday I went with my Mum to the Arts picture house to see Britain in the Thirties which consisted of 6 short docus made by the GPO film unit during the thirties. The first was Called Idustrial Britain which was about all the men (not one women) who worked in the coal, glass, steel, pottery etc industries. The second was Housing Problems about the slums in shoreditch, london and all the new flats they were building to replace them. I found it funny that today those flats are seen as well modern slums i guess and are being pulled down and replaced. Then we watched NightMail which I'd heard about from Mark in Film Studies. Then CoalFace but i really can't remember that. Then this silent film popped up about War and someone actually said are we supposed to be watching this. It was anti-war and saying things like "Mass Resistance is better than Mass Murder" and "STRIKE! A Government cannot contemplate war whilst its countries at a standstill". It was so relevant to today it was unbelievable and it was made in 1936. Anyway after that a lighthearted animation came on called love on a wing which was suprisingly made by the same director as the anti-war one which was called Hell UNLTD.
In the car on the way back we were discussing Hell UNLTD and my mum told me about how she used to wear a white poppy but peace but people would get upset thinking it was against the red poppy when it was actually agreeing with the red poppy but saying they didn't want to see that happen again.
Today I drove down to London with my Mum to collect my Nan who's up for the weekend. I was meant to see Nikki today aswell but oh look I haven't!
Tomorrow I am charity shopping with La Rachel then meeting Edie!

I now have 106 films in my screenselect rental queue which is a insane amount. When I start working I'm going to change my account so I can get more DVD's a month. I keep thinking that when I start working I can buy loadsa stuff but them I'm like nooo i've gotta save. So I guess I'll just like give myself however much a month to spend on stuff - if that makes sense.
Today I haven't done much apart from make lists of films i want to see and books i want to read (i still can't find my little pink reading list book:s). Yesterday I went into town with Hannah and didn't buy a thing. I looked for a book on kayaking for Sam's birthday present but there wasn't much selection. I also saw lots of books i wanted to buy in Fopp but seeing as I brought 7 in charity shops on thursday with Pete I resisted. I also made me and my sister pizzas the other day - was yum. On Friday Ida and Peter came round for Filmfest and we watched Trainspotting and The Happiness of the Katakuris, neither of which I'd seen before. Than when pete left me and Ida cooked some fud and went for a ramble around the Bar Hill Nature Reserve. Parents are getting back at like 1am, I'm gonna try and get my mum to take me to interesting places this week. Should be helping in the Charity Shop tomorrow but not sure :s.

I volunteered in Save the Children Fund today so had to get up at 8am - which is the earliest i've got up for weeks. Last night I watched Remains of the Day, it was better than i expected but reminded me of something i'd watched before. I finished A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian yesterday aswell, and started If Nobody Speak of Remarkable Things by Jon Mcgregor and i thought the main protagonist was a boy but they've just told their mother they're pregnant so it's totally thrown me.
I started work at the charity shop at 10 and was made to hoover - I hate hoovering! Then i had to take off the week 11 stock and reduce week 12 stock. Some little kid came in and pulled all the childrens clothes onto the floor and ripped apart some envelopes. Another kid came in and kept trying to run outta the door with our toys. I managed to get a top, a cardigan, some christian dior tights and a book for 50p.
At 2 I met Ida and got some good from the health food shop. They now sell Tofutti Cuties but we whenever we see them we never buy them because we are tardophiles.
We headed to Lion's yard and talked about charging people for false tours around cambridge. This was because whilst eating in St. Andrews memorial garden(where the crafts fair is) a tour group stopped by us and the women said "This is a memorial garden, St Andrews Church was here and they built the garden to remember St Andrews Church." but because of her accent ida thought she was saying St. Andrews Turd.
we got her some shopping in Sainsburys, which was £24 under £30. And had Lee in the health food shop offered to sing to us.
When I got home i talked on the phone to Liam which was very nice as I haven't spoke to him for aaaggees but sadly he cant come to any moviefests this week:(
